HVAC as an engineered solution has seen many incremental technological advances since its invention. Maintenance and repair of HVAC systems yet functions with the same mind-set, Preventive and Reactive maintenance, limited to ensuring Comfort Cooling.

The goal post however, has shifted. Energy efficiency and environmental safety are equally, if not more important. But this has mainly found resonance in the design of newer, better machines, rather than addressing the more immediate concern of the much bigger installed base of machines with a lifespan of up to 20 years.

HVAC service providers need to bridge the gap between “push” (technology enablers) and “pull” (end-use requirements) factors:
